    Pakistan petrol climbs while diesel falls in fuel update

    ISLAMABAD / RankWire.AI / – Pakistan petrol prices moved higher again on October 6 after another daily fuel revision. Petrol increased by Rs0.88 per litre to Rs393.64, extending the rise recorded three days earlier. High-speed diesel moved in the opposite direction, falling by Rs1.88 to Rs397.76 per litre. The latest adjustment followed an October 3 decision that had increased both major transport fuels. That earlier move placed petrol at Rs392.76 and high-speed diesel at Rs399.64 per litre.

    On October 3, petrol rose by Rs2.10 per litre from Rs390.66, while high-speed diesel gained Rs0.30 from Rs399.34. The Petroleum Division said that review reflected changes in international fuel prices. International market rates, benchmark prices, premiums and related costs formed part of the pricing calculation. Those inputs remain central to Pakistan’s fuel review process. The October 3 increase became the immediate base for the next revision that took effect on October 6.

    The October 6 decision added another Rs0.88 to petrol, taking the rate from Rs392.76 to Rs393.64 per litre. High-speed diesel reversed its earlier increase and dropped from Rs399.64 to Rs397.76. Compared with October 2, petrol is now Rs2.98 per litre higher and diesel is Rs1.58 lower. Pakistan’s federal government also continues to collect taxes and duties of Rs114 per litre on petrol. The corresponding amount on high-speed diesel is Rs100 per litre.

    Daily fuel pricing reflects international market shifts

    Pakistan has used a daily fuel pricing system since July, following a period of weekly revisions that began in March. The daily mechanism links domestic adjustments to movements in international markets and other pricing inputs. Before the change, fuel prices were generally reviewed over longer intervals. The current process can produce separate movements for petrol and diesel on the same day. October 6 provided that pattern, with petrol rising while diesel declined.

    Fuel prices remain below the highs recorded earlier this year. Petrol reached Rs458.41 per litre on April 3, while high-speed diesel climbed to Rs520.35. Petrol had been near Rs266 per litre in the first week of March. Diesel was around Rs281 per litre before its subsequent climb. By October 6, petrol stood Rs64.77 below its April peak, while diesel was Rs122.59 below its own peak. Both products have therefore moved sharply below their April maximum levels.

    Petrol rises while diesel eases after October 3 increase

    Petrol is widely used in private transport, including small cars, motorcycles and rickshaws across Pakistan. High-speed diesel serves heavy transport, power plants and large generators. The two products therefore cover different parts of the country’s transport and energy demand. Petrol and high-speed diesel are also the country’s major petroleum revenue earners by sales volume. Recent revisions have moved the fuels in different directions on several days. On October 3 both prices rose, while the October 6 adjustment increased petrol and reduced diesel.

    For October 6, the current petrol price is Rs393.64 per litre and high-speed diesel costs Rs397.76. Those rates replace the October 3 levels of Rs392.76 and Rs399.64, respectively. The sequence shows petrol gaining Rs0.88 since that review, while diesel has fallen Rs1.88. The latest figures also preserve the broader October pattern of frequent changes under daily pricing. Motorists and commercial users face the revised rates for the October 6 pricing period.
